Dr. Ali Azam Farooqui is a resident physician in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Louisville. An honors graduate of the University of Kentucky Medical School, Dr. Ali Azam Farooqui’s areas of medical interest include minimally invasive surgery, behavioral medicine, and the business of healthcare.
Dr. Farooqui also works with those struggling with addiction at the Fresh Start for Kentucky agency. One of its founding partners, he guides individuals with a history of substance abuse to employment opportunities and stable housing.
Previously, Dr. Farooqui led operations at Chambers Medical Group, a nine-clinic facility. He handled all aspects of administration, such as overseeing relationships with hospitals and physicians, doctor recruitment, and regulatory compliance. Earlier, he reviewed standards of care in legal matters and coordinated insurance teams for the Kentucky Health Benefits Exchange.
Dr. Farooqui’s professional affiliations include the American Medical Association, Kentucky Medical Association, Greater Louisville Medical Society, and the American Psychiatric Association. His honors include earning an academic scholarship at the University of Kentucky.
A speaker of three foreign languages, he pursues many outside interests, ranging from calligraphy and painting to poetry and philosophy. To stay healthy, he plays soccer, tennis, and works out.
